RSVP

RSVP - John Stanley      The RSVP program was created in response to critical community needs across the nation. It is designed to help seniors, 55 and older, effectively use their time, energy, and skills to support non-profit organizations fulfill their missions.

The Corpus Christi RSVP is federally funded by the Corporation for National and Community Services (CNCS). Since 1977, the City of Corpus Christi has been the local sponsor. Across the nation, over 500,000 volunteers bring a diverse range of experience and expertise to their communities. The RSVP program serves all of Nueces County and currently has over 800 active volunteers.

RSVP staff matches volunteers’ interests and schedules with several opportunities from non profit agencies called Volunteer Stations that are registered with the RSVP program. Requests received from Volunteer Stations range from, but not limited to, clerical/administrative duties, fundraising assistants, special project coordinators, receptionists, thrift and gift shop clerks, computer assistants, as well as numerous long term, ad-hoc or short term assignments.

BECOME AN RSVP VOLUNTEER!

It's an easy as 1, 2, 3: (1) you must be at least 55 years of age to enroll, (2) you must complete a monthly timesheet to receive credit for your volunteer service hours, and (3) you must be willing to work without compensation. Once enrolled, RSVP Volunteers are required to attend orientation, and to serve at least 1 (one) hour per month at a registered volunteer station in order to remain active in the program. Volunteers may choose to serve at one or more volunteer stations, may commit to one or more assignments, and may choose the number of hours according to your schedule. RSVP Volunteers have benefits such as a FREE Supplemental Insurance that covers you while traveling to and from your assignment and while on duty. Also, numerous events are held throughout the year to recognize volunteers for their dedicated service, which includes an annual banquet and awards ceremony.

RSVP VOLUNTEER STATIONS:

The RSVP program currently serves over 50 active volunteer stations. Any 501c3-non profit organization or proprietary healthcare agency can become an RSVP Volunteer Station, via the appropriate enrollment process. Volunteer Stations must sign an agreement with the City of Corpus Christi called a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that outlines policies and procedures.
