The City of Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department advises residents that because of renovations underway at Heritage Park, tours of the buildings there are being temporarily suspended from now until May 1, 2010.
The project includes roofing work, exterior and interior painting, the replacement of two porches as well as of window shutters and flooring, electrical upgrades and the construction of a new storage facility. The improvements are part of the 2008 Bond Issue, which was approved by voters in November of that year.
Officials with the City's Cultural Services Division say they appreciate residents patience while the work is underway, and that temporarily suspending the tours, as well as all regular programming which include art exhibits and cooking demonstration, are being done for safety reasons. They also say the project will help ensure that the historic structures will be around for local residents and visitors alike to enjoy for many years to come. Heritage Park is located at 1581 Chaparral Street.
