-
- The amateur equivalent to the international Olympic Games, the TAAF Games of Texas is an annual competition and the ultimate sporting event for the state. The U.S. Olympic Committee has recognized the TAAF Games of Texas as an official State Games Program Participant. There are medal winners of several sports who are eligible to advance and participate in the national level in the State Games of America.
-
- In 2006 and 2007, the Games of Texas was hosted by Williamson County. In those two years, cities such as Round Rock, Georgetown and Cedar Park welcomed over 15,000 athletes and their families. The TAAF scale calculates that each athlete and his/her family spent $125 a day on hotel, food and entertainment.

- Ed Persall, Vice President of Convention Sales for the Corpus Christi Convention & Visitors Bureau, spoke candidly about the impact the games will have on the Corpus Christi area and its businesses. He stated,
-
- “This is HUGE for Corpus Christi. This is a great opportunity to show off the growth of our city since the last time TAAF Games of Texas were held here. Whataburger Field, the American Bank Center, and the Corpus Christi Natatorium are all state-of-the-art facilities that will enhance the experience of the games. We’re expecting that quite a few athletes and their families will take some extended time to enjoy Corpus Christi after the medals are given out!”
-
- Each year the Games of Texas are sponsored by area commerce. The games are a unique opportunity for businesses to promote their community involvement and show their support in the amateur athletes of Texas.
