- The Corpus Christi Weed & Seed Program and their partnering coalition need volunteers for the 2009 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program to help local residents with their 2009 IRS Income Tax preparation.
The program operates at several local agencies as well as Weed & Seed Tax Centers. VITA volunteers help low-income and elderly taxpayers E-file their income tax return FREE.
Volunteers are needed for the 2009 Income Tax filing season from January through late April 2010. The VITA program is run in conjunction with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and is supported strictly by volunteers. Volunteers will attend a free training class, conducted by the IRS. No skills are needed to be a volunteer we will give you all the training you will need. We can also use general assistance in receptionist duties, filing, and making copies. Regardless of the level of expertise or available hours you can donate, we can certainly use your help.
The Weed & Seed Program is a Department of Justice program for the City of Corpus Christi and administered by the Parks & Recreation Department. This is the 13th year of Weed & Seed services in Corpus Christi.
