The Corpus Christi Paddle Prix & Rally will be held on October 23, 2010. It is the Mayor’s Fitness Council’s signature event designed to encourage everyone to stay fit while enjoying the vast natural resources the Coastal Bend has to offer. The finish line for this race along the Nueces River will be at Labonte Park where paddlers will be treated to good food and soulful tunes. Racers compete in a wide range of vessel classes from solo recreational kayak or canoe out for a day of fun on the river. Click here for details.

The City of Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for overseeing 1,564 acres of developed and undeveloped open spaces (parks, City beaches, natural habitats, etc.) and facilities (marina, recreation centers, pools, gyms, ball fields, senior centers, tennis and golf courses, etc.) to enrich the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.

The City, County and the Regional Transportation Authority have teamed up to create an extensive plan to provide access to cycling, walking, hiking trails. These amenities are designed for both residents and visitors to enjoy. The vision/goal is to create more livable communities—communities where people get out to enjoy outdoor recreation as well as promote a more "green" environment.
